SK & C Mental Health CentreWillow is part of the South Kensington & Chelsea Mental Health Centre, and provides a programme of supportive and therapeutic activities for the inpatients of Mulberry North and South wards and over 100 day patients at any given time.

Each patient who is referred to Willow is invited to meet with a member of the staff team, to discuss what aspects of the Day Programme might be helpful to them.

The Programme currently includes the following groups:

  • Relaxation
  • Health Promotion
  • Medication Education
  • Women's Group
  • Men's Group
  • News & Views
  • Goal Planning
  • Cultural Awareness
  • Open Art
  • Creative Expression
  • Music Therapy
  • Patient's Choir
  • Music Appreciation
  • Pottery
  • Exercise Classes & Circuit Training
  • Table-Tennis
  • Cooking Skills on a Budget

In addition, there are courses of limited duration on themes such as Anxiety Management and Assertiveness.

Each weekday begins with a Community Meeting, which is open to inpatients, day patients and outpatients, and is allocated by staff from other parts of the service, as well as Willow. There are also Drop-in Groups at which patients can talk to their Doctors and to other professionals on an informal basis.

The Day Programme also hosts Groups and Meetings run by other bodies. For example, there is an Afro-Caribbean Drop-in Group run by the Oremi Centre, and the Kensington & Chelsea Forum meets here monthly.

In addition to attending groups, patients using Willow meet with an allocated Day Programme Worker on a regular basis. In these one-to-one meetings, their progress can be monitored and help can be given regarding specific needs not addressed in the Group Programme.
