Who is an appropriate referral?
Any individual, couple or family who have an issue with the problematic use of drugs, illicit or prescribed, or alcohol, which is impacting on significant relationships. We are also able to offer individual or group support to those who are concerned or affected by someone else’s excessive use of alcohol or drugs.
It is important that anyone who is referred to the service is able to partake in therapy that is unusually proactive and requires sustained, focused attention. A person does not need to be drug or alcohol free in order that they become stable enough to utilise this therapy, then we would recommend that they are first seen for an assessment at either CAPS (Central Assessment Primary Service) or Alcohol Service (5 Wolverton Gardens).
The Meanwhile Family Therapy Service meets to discuss and allocate referrals every Monday.
We will usually be able to make a first point of contact with the client within one week of referral and will allocate the client to a therapist within two weeks of this contact.
