Service Description
The Junction Service in Brent is a partnership with Turning Point providing a range of specialist clinical treatment services for people with problem drug use. The service provides triage, comprehensive and medical assessments to identify the needs of the service user and how these may be met. Services include prescribing interventions such as stabilisation, short and longer term substitute prescribing; community detox and pharmacy based supervised consumption.
The services also provides access to in-patient detox and referral into GP prescribing for stable service users. The Junction Service also works in partnership with a range of other agencies and professionals. Services provided on site include: key-work appointments, regular medical reviews, care planning, psychology, family therapy, harm minimisation information, needle exchange for current service users, relapse prevention interventions, interventions relating to the use of drugs including opiates/opiods, crack cocaine, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, and alcohol, access to blood borne virus screening and vaccinations, with continued input from a sexual health practitioner and advice and information for people affected by substance misuse including friends and families.
The Junction Service is for residents of Brent aged 19 and over who are experiencing problems relating to:
- Dependence on opioid drugs such as heroin, methadone etc
- Chaotic use of and dependence on benzodiazepines
- Alcohol misuse/dependence as part of poly drug use
- Stimulant use as part of poly drug use
The Junction Service accepts both professional and self-referrals. Anyone wishing to access the service can telephone or drop in for a brief assessment (triage) during the following opening times: Monday to Thursday: 9.45am to 1pm and 1.30pm to 5.30pm.
