The background information
CNWL became a Foundation Trust on 1 May 2007. This means that local people can have a direct say on the Trust's future plans by becoming members. We aim to develop a wide membership including service users, carers, local residents and staff which reflects the diverse population of central and north west London.
A Foundation Trust is a new type of organisation that involves service users, carers, the public and staff in the way it is run and in its future development. A Council of Members has been established, which is made up of Governors. These Governors are elected by members. There are also a number of appointed Governors who represent our partner organisations such as NHS Primary Care Trusts, local authorities and voluntary sector services. The Council of Members helps us shape our overall direction.
The Council of Members works with the Board of Directors, which is made up of Executive Directors and Non Executive Directors, including the Trust Chairman, who also chairs the Council of Members.
