The Service is conducting or involved with a number of research studies and also regularly conducts audit of different aspects of the work of the Service.  

        Research

  • MFS is participating in a prospective multi-centre study (Cassel Hospital, Tavistock Centre, Marlborough Family Service), evaluating day and in-patient hospital treatment of children and families (with Professor P Fonagy)
  • Acute Crisis Intervention Project for Teenagers and Young Persons: a group of clinicians from MFS (Eia Asen, Neil Dawson, Rabia Malik) jointly with Anna Freud Institute and UCL (Prof Fonagy, Mary Target) and NELMHT (Dr D Bevington) are pioneering an innovative manualised treatment for 14 – 21 year olds
  • International Multi-Centre Anorexia Nervosa RCT  (Eia Asen, with Eisler, Treasure, Schmidt, Scholz et al)
  • Marlborough Family Service Education Centre Evaluation Project: Aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Multi-family therapy in an education context. Appropriate outcome measures from families attending the Marlborough Education Centre and out-reach groups will be compared with a comparable control group at referral, three months, six months and twelve months.
