Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest providers of mental health care in England with over 100 consultants providing a range of general and specialist services. Covering a large segment of north west London, we have major units in Chelsea and Westminster, St Mary's/St Charles/The Gordon, central Middlesex, Northwick Park and Hillingdon hospitals. We have over 100 psychiatry trainees, who gain a very broad experience in general and old age psychiatry and sub-specialities including liaison, drug and alcohol, child and adolescent learning disability, rehabilitation, psychotherapy and eating disorders.
The Trust has close links with St Mary's and Charing Cross schemes and hosts trainees from both schemes. Trainees are encouraged to attend the local MRCPsych course, which is currently being re-developed to map to the ST1-3 curriculum. All principal sites have robust local academic programmes. We also offer a good exam revision course including critical appraisal training, OSCE practice and PMP/IPA exam practice. Over the last few years our trainees have achieved MRCPsych exam passes well above the national average.
The Trust has been very proactive in ensuring a smooth introduction of Modernising Medical Careers (MMC), including setting up a MMC steering committee with active trainee representation.
