The CNWL National Problem Gambling Clinic treats problem gamblers living in England and Wales who are aged 16 and over. It assesses the needs of problem gamblers as well as those of their partners and family members and offers evidence based treatments as well as interventions to assist with financial, employment, social and relationship difficulties.
The service also offers assessment and short-term treatment of co-existing mental health conditions and works with relevant services in the clients’ boroughs of residence to ensure that clients receive the services they require. In addition, the clinic addresses the needs of partners and family members of gamblers who have themselves experienced difficulties as a result of a loved one’s problem gambling disorder.
The multidisiplinary team includes Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Family Therapist, CAB Debt Management Specialist and the Administrator. The lead clinician of the service is Dr Henrietta Bowden-Jones.
The Clinic can be accessed by self-referral or referral by other agencies or organisations. In addition, contact can be made in person at the Clinic, by telephone, fax or e-mail (gambling.cnwl@nhs.net).
