Statement from CNWL about Mr Amin Abdullah (Inquest 6 to 8 February)

“CNWL accepts the findings of this Inquest, which thoroughly looked into all the circumstances of the terrible death of Mr Abdullah (including the cross examination of staff).

Our staff are skilled experts in what they do but the assessment of risk is difficult and requires responsible clinicians to do so with all their skill and experience; sometimes it is impossible to predict what actions someone will take and we are sorry that this proved to be so in this case.

“We are pleased that the Coroner found there was a high level of care at St Charles, that staff were aware of the on ongoing risks, that interactions with Mr Abdullah were good and the Coroner could not have identified any actions that would have prevented the incident.

“Our thoughts today though are with the family and friends of Mr Abdullah for their loss”
