The Bloomsbury Clinic at Mortimer Market Centre, in central London, offers free, confidential treatment and care for people with HIV.

It provides a comprehensive range of HIV services and treatments, and its skilled professionals include HIV consultants, specialist pharmacists and nurses, health advisers and psychologists.

Transferring your care to Bloomsbury Clinic

If you would like to transfer your care from another clinic you do not need a referral, just ring 020 3317 5100 and ask for a Bloomsbury transfer appointment.

Booked appointments

If you already attend the Bloomsbury Clinic, telephone the number above to make a follow-up appointment.  We offer appointments five days a week with two late evenings, Tuesday and Thursday.  Along with face to face appointments with our doctors and specialist nurses, we offer a range of email and telephone clinic options, please discuss which would be suitable for you with your clinician. 

Walk-in services

We offer a number of walk-in services including blood tests, a nurse clinic and an urgent clinic.  Please be aware that while we endeavour to see all patients on the day these clinics can get very busy and at times we have limited space available.

Urgent clinic 

If you already attend the Bloomsbury Clinic and have an urgent problem that is HIV-related, then you can come in to see the duty doctor who will assess you. If your problem is not HIV-related you will be redirected to a more appropriate service by one of our nurses.  If you are unsure whether your problem is HIV-related or would like some advice, you can telephone the clinic on 020 3317 5143 during the hours shown below.

 As with all walk-in services the urgent clinic can become very busy which extends waiting times.  We can normally find you a booked appointment with a doctor within one week if you call 020 3317 5100.

Emergency out-of-hours advice

If you need advice outside the clinic opening hours, telephone the University College London Hospital (UCLH) switchboard on 0845 155 5000 and ask for the on-call HIV doctor. This number is available until 21:00 daily.


Outpatient prescriptions are dispensed from the pharmacy at Mortimer Market Centre. .  Many of our patients have signed up to a medication delivery scheme which could reduce your visits to the clinic.  Please ask your clinician or a pharmacist at your next appointment. If you think you will run out of medication before your next appointment, telephone the Bloomsbury Clinic on 020 3317 5143 to request an urgent repeat prescription (please give at least 48 hours’ notice). This service is for antiretrovirals only.
