Independent living services

Independent living services provide information and advice for people experiencing difficulties with daily living because of illness, disability, ageing or an accident.

Services are delivered by a helpful and friendly team of staff and volunteers with a range of expertise. They listen to individuals’ problems and will advise accordingly, suggesting solutions to make life easier and safer, creating greater choice and independence.

The service has displays of equipment designed to help with daily living, including:

  • Household equipment
  • Eating and drinking equipment
  • Hoist and lifting equipment
  • Wheelchair-accessible scales
  • Dressing equipment
  • Sensory equipment
  • Bathing and personal care items
  • Telecare
  • Chairs, bed
  • Stairlift

The team can demonstrate how to use the equipment and advise where they can be obtained locally.

The centre also offers an information service by telephone or by post for anyone unable to visit.
