Sexual health services for female sex workers

We offer free, confidential sexual health clinics for female sex workers, including health promotion advice and informal counselling.

Sexual health clinics

Services provided at our sexual health clinics include:

  • Free condoms 
  • Full testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
  • Hepatitis vaccinations
  • Contraception advice; all forms of contraception are available
  • Emergency contraception
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Termination of pregnancy (TOP) referral
  • Cervical smear tests
  • Information resources and leaflets
  • Information about working safely, including the National Ugly Mugs/Dodgy Punter Scheme

The team includes sexual health and contraception specialist nurses, doctors, health promotion specialists and healthcare support workers. We also have interpreters available.

The Freedoms shop sells a range of condoms and lubricants at reduced prices for people working in the sex industry.

Health promotion

The specialist Health Promotion Team offers free and confidential one-to-one advice, support and informal counselling for female sex workers on a range of issues.

Topics include:

  • Sexual and reproductive health advice
  • Working safely, including Ugly Mug / Dodgy Punter reports
  • Issues concerning trafficking, coercion or domestic violence
  • Sex work and the law
  • Safer drug use
  • Referrals to other organisations for information about tax, national insurance and immigration
  • Exiting sex work/change of career plan
  • Education and training

Specialist support is available from Project London, who can help with finding a general practitioner (GP).

Eligibility criteria (who is the service for?)

The services have been designed for female sex workers.

How can someone be referred?

There is no need for a referral from a GP or healthcare professional. Female sex workers can refer themselves to the clinic or the Health Promotion Team.

Can I use NHS e-Referral (formerly Choose and Book) to arrange my first outpatient appointment?

NHS e-Referral is not applicable to this service.

How to access this service

CLASH clinic is a walk in service Monday and Friday from 08:45-13:00.
