Have you ever thought about working in a prison?

If so, then look no further as CNWL will be holding a recruitment open day for nurses and healthcare assistants to work at HMP High Down and HMP Downview, respectively a male and female prison.

The event will be held on Saturday, 24 February at the Jurys Inn Hotel, Wellesley Road, East Croydon, Surrey CR0 9XY. People interested can meet current staff members, find out more about working in a prison environment and undertake interview and assessment on the day.

At the moment CNWL is looking for Band 5 Primary Care Nurses at HMP High Down, Band 6 RGNs at HMP Downview and Healthcare Assistants at HMP Downview.

HMP High Down is a Category B prison accommodating about 1,200 adult male prisoners who are either sentenced or on remand. HMP Downview is a women’s prison with a capacity of 355 females.

CNWL provide primary care and mental health services at both prisons and are an integral part of the wider prison team contributing to the rehabilitative culture within the establishment.

Work within the Primary Care Team is varied and includes triaging, emergency care and treatment, health promotion, end of life/palliative care, effective care planning and liaising with the multidisciplinary team. Bank and permanent opportunities are available.
