A CNWL star nurse receives award

11 September 2019

A Milton Keynes senior nurse has been presented with an award for being a Star.

Deb Simons, CNWL’s new Deputy Director of Milton Keynes Community Health Services, was nominated for the award by the nursing team from her previous role when she was Lead Nurse for CNWL’s Offender Care Service.

The Cavell Star Award is a national award scheme whose recipients have been nominated by nursing colleagues who are felt to be deserving of recognition for looking after their colleagues or for providing excellent care to patients and their families.

Louise Morton, Divisional Director of Nursing, said: "Deb is real star and thoroughly deserves this award because of all she has done to promote high quality nursing care and patient experience in  Offender Healthcare.

"She is an exemplar of nursing leadership, who demonstrates the value and contribution of nursing excellence."

Deb said: "I was shocked to receive this award and humbled that my colleagues did this. I love nursing and just enjoy doing the very best I can to improve the quality of care provided."

Claire Murdoch, CNWL Chief Executive, said: "Well done Deb. You truly deserved this award."
