Appointment of Chair at Barts Health NHS Trust

NHS Improvement has today confirmed the appointment of Ian Peters as Chair of Barts Health NHS Trust. Mr Peters will start a four-year term of office on 1 April 2017.
NHS Improvement's Deputy Chief Executive and Executive Director of Regulation, Stephen Hay, said: "It's vital that NHS trusts have very strong leadership to help them provide great care for patients, so I am delighted we have appointed someone of Ian's calibre to carry out this important role at Barts."
Ian is currently a non-executive director at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, and will stand down from this role to take up the post at Barts. He is also chair of housing association Family Mosaic, and will continue in this role until he takes on the vice chair position of the Peabody housing association when it merges with Family Mosaic this summer.
Non-executive appointments to NHS Trusts made by the NHS Improvement are subject to the Governance Code for Public Appointments.
Ian has been appointed from 1 April 2017 until 31 March 2021. He has not declared any political activity in the last five years.
