Camden Children’s Health Services receive positive letter from joint Ofsted and CQC inspection

A positive letter from Ofsted and Care Quality Commission (CQC) describes Camden Children’s Services across health, education and social care as effectively identifying and meeting needs for children and young people with additional and complex needs following a one week inspection carried out in March.
The joint area inspection was carried out to evaluate how well local services for children and young people are delivering he government’s special educational needs and disability (SEND) reforms, set out in the Children and Families Act 2014.
The outcome letter provides findings about the borough’s provision, including the health services that we provide in partnership with three other local NHS providers, which are Royal Free London, Tavistock and Portman and Whittington Health.
This partnership is known as Camden Integrated Children’s Service.

Some of the key aspects of the service’s health provision highlighted in the outcome letter as good practice and effective:
- Senior leaders in the local area responded promptly to the reforms when they were first introduced in 2014 - Camden Integrated Children’s Service was established in the autumn on 2014 in response to the reforms
- Health professionals work well together and share information effectively - Every Camden child has a single community NHS record on SystmOne, used by all professionals regardless of employer
- The Single Point of Referral (SPOR), the front door to health services for CYP with complex and additional needs, and Camden MOSAIC, are highlighted as key successes – SPOR takes almost 2,000 children and young people a year through it and average waiting times for first appointments are under six weeks, and MOSAIC provides a range of multi-disciplinary support and management for the most complex CYP and their families.
