CNWL PICU teams attend NAPICU annual conference

All four consultants and a range of nursing, therapy and pharmacy staff from all four of the our PICUs (Psychiatric Intensive Care Units), attended NAPICU's (National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units) twenty fourth annual conference held in Glasgow on 5 to 6 September 2019. The conference was well attended by approximately 250 professionals working in PICUs all over the UK and beyond, from a wide range of professions – nursing staff, doctors, occupational therapist, pharmacists, therapy staff, psychologists and patients.
CNWL has the following PICUs:
- Caspian at Park Royal Mental Health Centre
- Colne at The Riverside Centre
- Nile at St Charles Hospital
- Shannon at St Charles Hospital
The theme for the conference was “Therapeutic Advancements in Acute, Emergency and Secure Mental Health Settings; Reducing Restrictive Interventions Programme and Abstract”.
Staff from Colne PICU submitted a poster which was accepted for the poster display.
Sandra Jayacody who is our Service User representative for Quality Improvement Board, is also our Interim Chair for Adult Mental Health Research Partnership Group and is our Research Assistant, spoke about co-production.
