CNWL wins Top Teacher and Excellence in Medical Education Award

CNWL’s Dr Jonathan Cartledge wins Top Teacher award for the second year in a row and the CNWL HIV and Sexual Health Undergraduate Team have won the Excellence in Medical Education Award (EMEA).

Dr Jonathan Cartledge, CNWL’s Consultant HIV Physician based at the Mortimer Market Centre for sexual health, has won a Top Teacher award at University College London (UCL) Medical School.

Throughout the academic year, students are asked to nominate teachers and administrators who they felt have made a positive contribution to their learning experience at UCL Medical School.

During the 2017-2018 academic year, there were more than 2000 votes cast by students; with 48 winners. Dr Cartledge was one of teachers that students singled out for praise and won a Year 5 Top Teacher award.

Furthermore, the CNWL HIV and Sexual Health Undergraduate Team were awarded an Excellence in Medical Education Award (EMEA)by faculty at UCL medical school. The prize money from which is helping to upgrade one of our clinic rooms to be able to double function as a tutorial room.  

Dr Cartledge said: “It is a fantastic feeling to be voted a Top Teaching Award from the UCL medical students I have been teaching and who’s penultimate year I lead. They are the people best placed to feed back about their experience of being taught, and it is so lovely to learn that the work I put into teaching is appreciated."
