Lavender Walk Adolescent Unit had the honour of welcoming Councillor Marie-Therese Rossi, Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington  and Councillor Emma Will, Lead Member for Families, Children who are both Governors of the hospital school that serves Lavender Walk.

Councillor Marie-Therese and Councillor Emma Will were pleased with the Unit opening and keen to hear about the treatment young people receive while inpatients.

They enquired about how staff are supported to work with this patient group and thanked us for the hard work we provide to support the local young people.

Sisa Moyo, Deputy Director of CNWL Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team (CAMHS) and Eating Disorder Service showed them around the unit during the visit.

She said: “The visit were exceptionally well. Both the Mayor and Cllr Emma took great interest in the treatment young people receive from the service. They praised the onsite provision of Education for this group of young people. They took a keen interest in how staff are supported.

They welcomed the development of a local Adolescent Inpatient Unit which reduces NWL young people being admitted out of area.”
