16 July 2018
CNWL’s Tissue Viability Team was highly commended for its ‘Stop the Pressure’ project, during the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2018.
Luxmi Mohamud, Michelle Dyer and Colette Spoard from Hillingdon-based team, lead the 'Stop the Pressure' Project, which was nominated under the Care for Older People category. They go into care homes and support the prevention of pressure ulcers by offering training, advice and directly working with residents. Many of the homes they work with have marked 100 and 200 days of no pressure ulcers.
Earlier the project was also nominated for an HSJ Value Award.
Despite being preventable, pressure ulcers cost the NHS between £1.4 to £2.1 billion each year.
