Julie Pearson has been announced as our latest Hidden Gem Award winner.
Julie (pictured centre with managers Lynne Miller and Rash Patel) received the award for work in CNWL Employment Services, which helps patients in our mental health and addiction services to find jobs and gain accessto training. Although based at Latimer House in central London, in her role as an Employment Specialist, Julie works with patients at all of the mental health services in our London boroughs.
During the five years she has been employed in this role, Julie has had a positive and lasting impact on the people she has worked with. She was nominated for a Gem by a patient, who said “I suffer with mental health difficulties and Julie has helped me to continue in my employment and given me ongoing support. She has showed empathy, treated me with respect and made me feel valued as a person.”
Julie talks about her role with pride. “A lot of the time I see people thrive in their work, previously having had such a struggle to get into work and sustain a successful working life. I love being part of a service that helps people to realise their potential and ambitions.”
She was presented with her award by her managers Rash and Lynne this week, who summarised Julie’s impact on the service and her work ethic. Lynne said, “Julie brings passion, commitment, drive and tenacity to the work she does in making the User Employment Programme the great service that it is. Her ability to build relationships with a range of internal and external recruiting employers, means she has opened up opportunities in the hidden labour market. Outcomes have been at the highest level since the service started in 2004.”
Julie says she is “really proud” of her Hidden Gem and “I’d like to thank my managers for all their support and allowing me to do my job the way I do it.”
