New Chair announced for CNWL!

Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Chair, Professor Dorothy Griffiths, to lead the organisation from 1 January 2014.

Professor Griffiths replaces Dame Ruth Runciman, who has been Chair of the Trust since 2001.

Professor Dorothy Griffiths has served as a Non-Executive Director at CNWL since 2000 and also has been the Trust’s Senior Independent Director since 2007, working closely with the Trust’s members and governors.

Professor Griffiths is currently the Dean of the Imperial College Business School and Professor of Human Resource Management. She has significant private sector experience, having worked as a consultant for a number of large and small companies.  In addition she has worked on healthcare reform in a number of countries and worked in management development in the NHS.

Claire Murdoch, CNWL Chief Executive, welcomes Professor Griffiths to her new position, saying:

“I am delighted to welcome Professor Griffiths to her new position as Chair of CNWL.  Professor Griffiths brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and I look forward to working closely together in the New Year.

“The Trust has been very fortunate to have benefited from the leadership of Dame Ruth Runciman for the last 12 years and I would like to formally thank her for her tremendous commitment, support and contribution to local NHS services”.

Professor Dorothy Griffiths said:

“I would like to thank the Governors at CNWL for appointing me to this very important role.  I have enjoyed serving the Trust as a NED and look forward to the new challenge of being its Chair.

“I have always been a champion of CNWL services. My top priorities will be to ensure that the Trust maintains and improves the quality of its clinical services and that the Trust can demonstrate its effectiveness to our communities and local commissioners.”

The process to recruit a new Non-Executive Director for CNWL, to replace Professor Griffiths, will commence this summer.
