Perinatal mental health services – local mum supports expansion
15 May 2018
Local mum –Paulina from Harrow – supports extra funding for mums who need mental health support; she also spoke to MPs in Parliament on Tuesday 15 May about why these services are so vital.
CNWL received extra funding to expand the Brent and Harrow Perinatal Team for equity of access to women living in these two boroughs.
Paullina from Harrow said, “It is possible to suffer from depression and feel great joy on the news of pregnancy at the same time; it just means every day of this journey is a greater emotional struggle. The support I received from Perinatal Team in Harrow has been invaluable. My husband, baby and I are delighted to hear of new funding which will allow more women access to specialist mental health services."
Claire Murdoch, Chef Executive for CNWL, said, “The extra investment is really welcome. Paulina spoke about how good and necessary these services were for them – thanks for doing so – and extra investment will mean we can reach more mums like them, when they need it most.”
