About the team

This service is delivered by a multidisciplinary team which includes a clinical psychologist, occupational therapist and physiotherapist, and supported by an assistant psychologist and service administrator.

Medical diagnostic screening appointments are offered by a consultant neurologist on a locum basis.

The Team runs a limited satellite clinic at St Pancras Hospital on Thursdays, intended for patients who live or work closest to this location.

Therapy assessments and individual treatment sessions are available at St Pancras Hospital. The physiotherapist offers telephone appointments for patients receiving treatment at this location.

Due to resource limitations, medical screening appointments and group treatment are only available at Hillingdon Hospital.

Once a diagnosis of CFS/ME has been confirmed, further assessment and treatment is provided. The assessment framework and intervention strategies delivered are in line with NICE guidelines for the management of CFS/ME and follow a symptom-management framework, incorporating elements of graded exercise therapy (GET), activity management and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) principles.

Treatment is offered either in a group or individual format. The intervention programmes delivered as part of this service aim to teach patients the skills to self-manage their symptoms of chronic fatigue, and patients are strongly encouraged to continue these self-management skills on a long-term basis and beyond the end of the intervention received from the service.
