Schizophrenia is a type of psychosis. The main symptoms are hallucinations (hearing voices or seeing things that others can’t hear or see), delusions (believing in things that are unrealistic to others) and changes in a person’s normal way of being and way of looking at things. These experiences can be confusing and worrying, both for the person who it happens to as well as for people around them.
