Each child is offered an individualised programme of assessment and treatment.

 This includes a comprehensive range of psychiatric and psychological assessments, individual therapies and group based therapies. Families are expected to attend family therapy sessions and there are parenting and support groups available.

The unit provides a therapeutic milieu where children’s strengths and capacity for change are recognised and encouraged. Staff are available at all times to support children in managing their difficulties.

Physical health review and investigations: Daily talking time

Risk assessment: Milieu therapy and emotional containment

Behavioural analysis: Family therapy and family support

Mental state assessments: Goal focussed therapy (individual)

Academic assessment: Group Therapy

Psychological assessment: Psychoeducation

Nursing assessment and activities of daily living: Activity programme

ADOS and 3Di assessments for pervasive developmental disorder: Therapeutic play

ABC recordings and assessment: Video feedback work with parents
