The latest article by CNWL’s Ankita Guchait, Assistant Psychologist for Learning Disability Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (LD CAMHS), titled ‘Carving Your Research Path as a Clinician,’ has been published by the British Psychological Society.
In the article, Ankita reflects on her journey as both a researcher and clinician, exploring the challenges of publication and authorship, as well as the differences between working in the USA and the UK. She also highlights the importance of setting clear boundaries, keeping a record of contributions, and seeking out mentorship and networking opportunities.
“One thing I've realised is that research in the UK is not a linear path. There's no single blueprint. Independence, curiosity, motivation, and a willingness to network are key. It's about finding the people and institutions that support your interests, asking for guidance, and being persistent”, said Ankita.
