With schools due to return soon, some children may be dealing with feelings of anxiety and fear as they go back to school for the first time since the Covid-19 lockdown.

To help parents support their children with these worries, our Children and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) Team has produce a helpful handbook on the steps they can take help their children. The handbook covers many things including:

  • How to talk to your child about how they are feeling
  • How to notice signs of anxiety
  • What to say and what not to say
  • Solutions to anxiety

Download the handbook.

Parents will also have the opportunity to join a virtual workshop on Friday 28 August 2020.

The focus will be on managing anxiety around the return to school and we have a guest speaker, Educational Psychologist Grania Usher alongside Systemic Family Psychotherapist, Demetra Brege.  The workshop will run for about 90 minutes, but do join even if you can’t stay for duration of the workshop.
