On 5 February 2026, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) proudly welcomed international colleagues from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and partner organisations across Europe and Canada for the Healthcare Improvement Alliance Europe (HIAE) programme, held in London.

As one of the host sites for the three-day event (3–5 February), CNWL brought together leaders, improvers, and system partners at its Euston Road headquarters for a day centred on collaboration, shared learning, and advancing high-quality healthcare across Europe and beyond.

After time to reconnect over coffee, Dr Con Kelly, Chief Medical Officer, opened the session with a warm welcome and a reflection on CNWL’s eight-year improvement journey. He highlighted the Trust’s growing maturity in quality improvement, noting the 153 poster submissions for this year’s Safety Conversation Week as clear evidence that a culture of improvement is now embedded across the organisation.

Alison Butler, Director of Improvement, also presented an overview of CNWL’s next steps to strengthen its Quality Management System, linking this work to the Trust’s wider strategic direction.

The day provided an opportunity to connect with improvers from a range of healthcare systems, exploring change methods, quality management, and capability building.

This London gathering - featuring site visits, learning exchanges, and opportunities to connect with colleagues from different sectors—highlighted the strength of cross-sector partnerships and the shared commitment to improving population health worldwide.
