On 25 November 2025, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) proudly hosted its Improvement Collaborative Celebration Event, bringing together teams from across the Trust to celebrate the remarkable progress achieved through the Therapeutic Observation and Engagement Collaborative.

A Day of Connection and Reflection

The day began with a reconnection exercise, creating a safe and inclusive space for participants to share openly. This set the tone for an inspiring event where teams reflected on their journeys, celebrated successes, and explored lessons learned.

Sharing Learning and Success

Eighteen ward teams showcased their improvement work and the positive impact on patient care. These included:

  • Colne PICU
  • Shannon PICU
  • Caspian PICU
  • Collingham Gardens
  • Oak Tree
  • Lavender Walk
  • Topas
  • Hazel
  • Willow

Teams shared how they reduced restrictive practices, improved patient experience, and embedded quality improvement skills across inpatient services. Discussions focused on enablers and barriers to change, highlighting what helped improvements succeed and what challenges were overcome.

Bonfire of Failure: Learning from Every Step

One of the most powerful moments was the Bonfire of Failure, where teams reflected on both successes and setbacks. This exercise reinforced the value of learning from every experience and using those insights to drive sustainable change.

Looking Ahead: Sustaining Improvements

The event also explored plans for sustaining progress through the ACE Programme, ensuring that the gains achieved continue to benefit patients and staff long into the future.

Celebrating Achievements: Improvement Academy Awards

The day concluded with the Improvement Academy Awards, recognising the incredible contributions of all teams. Every team received certificates and appreciation for their hard work and commitment.

A Testament to Teamwork and Dedication

This celebration highlighted the strength of improvement work across CNWL and the positive difference it continues to make for patients and services. Thank you to all staff, facilitators, and presenters for your dedication and passion. Together, we are building safer, more therapeutic environments and shaping a culture of continuous improvement.
