Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) recently hosted their internal, biannual Outer Borough Resident Doctor Quality Improvement Presentation Event. The online event brought together 54 attendees from Brent, Harrow, and Hillingdon to celebrate innovative Quality Improvement (QI) work across the Trust.

2 Resident Doctors were awarded for their work. Dr Nira Jeyakanthan won first place for ‘improving the safety of antipsychotic prescribing in dementia’. Dr Win Min Thet was runner up for ‘how to improve support in resident doctors affected by workplace violence and serious incidents’.

The event was chaired by Dr Tami Kramer, Clinical Lead for Quality Improvement and Consultant Child & Adult Psychiatrist at CNWL and it showcased 6 Resident-Doctor led QI projects at various stages of development.

The presentations covered a wide range of topics, including, improving ICD-10 recording in Ealing RISE, ward safety, AI-supported clinical information access and better documentation of Next of Kin in Liaison Psychiatry. They demonstrated the incredible work happening across CNWL to continuously improve the care provided to patients and will continue to develop and provide a positive impact to CNWL’s services.

Key learning points highlighted the invaluable role of involving Experts by Experience to ensure patient-centred improvement efforts, along with using QI tools like run charts to track meaningful change over time.

Overall, the event highlighted the impressive dedication of CNWL’s Resident Doctors and the ongoing commitment to improving patient care across the Trust.
