Welcome to new staff joining us tomorrow.

CNWL’s Health and Justice service (which provides NHS services in secure settings and in Courts) has successfully retained contracts for health services in five Surrey prisons (HMP High Down, HMP Coldingley, HMP Send, HMP Downview and HMP Bronzefield) and also at HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes, with new seven year contracts, beginning on Saturday 1 April 2023 for all six integrated healthcare services.

Service Director Patrick Gillespie, said, “Thank you to all staff and partner organisations who contributed to this success. Our bids were first class, with well resourced, progressive, integrated service models that means we will continue to deliver excellent patient care. This is very good news for our really dedicated staff and adds to our recent success of winning bids for new services at HMPYOI Aylesbury and HMPYOI Cookham Wood.”

“Woodhill was put out to tender by NHS England as part of a Lot with HMP Bedford and Yarl’s Wood IRC, which enabled us to develop a progressive partnership with Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT ) as the incumbent at Bedford and Yarl’s Wood. The partnership brings a unique opportunity to innovate and share best practice across our services.”

David Williams, Group Director of Strategy & Partnerships at NHFT, said: “We have created an innovative partnership with CNWL to pool our experience and expertise, but the partnership is a lot more than just retaining our services. It also creates the space to formally learn and share more between each other, we are confident through working together we will be able to deliver improved outcomes in a shorter time frame.”

Commenting further on the successful bids, Patrick said, “We are particularly pleased that our Addictions Directorate will continue with us at Woodhill and that our H&J Pharmacy Service will expand to deliver across all three sites.”

“In Surrey our contract at HMP Bronzefield has increased to include Primary Care and Healthcare within the Mother and Baby Unit, so we will soon be welcoming new staff, transferring into our existing team. In addition, we are delighted that the substance misuse services delivered by our partners at Forward Trust will now be part of our integrated healthcare contract in each of the Surrey prisons.”

CNWL also provide health services at YOI Feltham and in Courts.
