We operate on the key principle that where possible we aim to accommodate our service users in beds closest to home. If we place patients out of area, we will support them on discharge, and if going on leave, if they need to travel back to their homes or area of residence. We will also support families to visit if needed. We recognise that reimbursement for travelling under these circumstances is something that should be enabled and offered in a supportive way for our service user and their families or carers.
