London residents can now order the pill online from Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL).

This includes:

  • New or repeat progestogen only pill
  • Repeat combined pill (Existing sexual health patients of CNWL only)

For other contraception services such as an implant or coil fitting, an appointment is still needed.

How to order the pill online

To request the pill (oral contraception tablets) please complete this online form and a clinician will review your form before sending out a free prescription.

If you want to speak to someone, you can book an appointment with a clinician by calling 020 3317 5252. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. The clinician will discuss your contraceptive needs and send a free prescription by tracked delivery. You may be offered a face-to-face appointment, if necessary. You then take the prescription to your nearest pharmacy to collect the contraception.

Emergency contraception

You can use emergency contraception if you've had unprotected sex (sex without using contraception) or if you think your contraceptive method may have failed (such as a condom breaking). Emergency contraception can be used up to 3 days (72 hours) and some methods up to 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex.

The sooner you get emergency contraception the more effective it is.

There are two types of emergency contraception available:

  • Emergency contraceptive pill (sometimes called the 'morning after pill')
  • Intrauterine device (IUD, sometimes referred to as 'the coil') is fitted by a specially trained nurse or doctor within five days of unprotected sex
