We are pleased to support the launch of the new North London Primary Care Men’s Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR) Service, which will go live from 1 April 2026.

MHTR provision across North London is being delivered by two services, each covering specific boroughs. Boroughs within Central and North West London are supported by the NWL service, while North East London boroughs are supported by the NEL service. These services are delivered by psychological practitioners from Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, East London NHS Foundation Trust and North East London NHS Foundation Trust.

The North London Men’s Mental Health Treatment Requirement services form part of the wider Integrated Non-Custodial Service, which was rolled out in November 2025. This programme provides a pathway to further treatment and recovery, recognising the links between mental health difficulties and offending behaviour.

As an alternative to a custodial sentence, the service offers pre-sentence assessment and treatment as part of a community order. Individuals can access a range of psychological interventions, including psychoeducation, emotional skills development and cognitive behavioural therapy. All interventions are trauma-informed, co-produced and tailored to individual needs.

The service will provide Probation with a wider range of community order options and aims to address the underlying mental health issues that can contribute to offending behaviour, helping to reduce reoffending and improve health outcomes.
