On Thursday Minister of State for Care, Stephen Kinnock MP and local MP Danny Beales visited the Pembroke Centre in Ruislip to see first-hand how Hillingdon is pioneering the new wave of Neighbourhood Health Services.

The visit showcased how the local team are transforming care by bringing it closer to home, improving outcomes, and tackling health inequalities.

The Minister was welcomed by Amanda McDermott-Carey, CEO of The Confederation Hillingdon and Keith Spencer, Managing Director of Hillingdon Health and Care Partners. They provided an overview of the borough’s integrated care model and how it brings partners together to provide services locally. CNWL is the integrator organisation in the partnership.

The Minister was very complimentary about how well the partnership are doing and how far along they are with their neighbourhood services.

The team showcased Hillingdon’s frailty pathway, which supports older residents to stay well at home. The Minister met an 88-year-old patient at the centre alongside frontline staff including Community Matron, Dionne David and GP Ritu Prasad, Chair of the Confederation. Their stories illustrated the impact of joined-up, community-based care.

The Minister also met senior partners including Dr Genevieve Small, Medical Director for Primary Care in NW London and Ross Graves, Chief Strategy and Digital Officer at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.

Minister Kinnock’s visit underscored the Government’s commitment to building an NHS that fits around people’s lives and is rooted in their communities.
