Fabulous weather greeted the participants in the annual CNWL Golf day, held at Hendon Golf Club in North London.  After an early start, players enjoyed a good golf course in great condition, and TF Chan, our Lead Pharmacist, making his first appearance in the event held off the challenges of Ben Jagger and Samara Hammond to win the coveted trophy.  Ryan Kemp won the prize for the straightest drive and Ben also landed his tee shot closest to the pin on the tricky 9th hole to pick up a second prize.

We had a wide range of golf skills on display, and let’s just say that some shots were played from ‘unusual’ parts of the golf course! But it was great to see staff from such different CNWL geographical regions and services, and as always, golf is a great leveller, whilst also bringing people together.  A fabulous buffet lunch followed the golf, with prizegiving and speeches.  Hendon Golf Club has proudly flown the NHS flag throughout the pandemic, and had very significantly reduced the cost of the day as a gesture of support and goodwill.  The players all expressed their grateful thanks for the Club’s support of the NHS, and at the end of the Prizegiving, the Club Secretary also issued every player with a complimentary voucher for a free round of golf.  Amazing generosity from the Club, and it’s fair to say that everyone was touched by the Club’s support for the NHS.

A great day, and well done to the winners, and all our staff.  A big thank you to our generous sponsors Hollyoak Trading, who put up the prizes for our winners. Thanks also to the team at Hendon who did wonders on the day to make us feel welcome, and to thank our CNWL staff for their efforts during these tough times.
