CNWL is proud to have supported the ASPIRE programme since its inception.

ASPIRE is part of of NHS England’s (NHSE) plans to improve equity of access and inclusion for entrants to clinical psychology training for groups currently under represented. Part of the NHS Long Term Plan is to improve diversity of the workforce to better represent the service users it supports.  ASPIRE is intended to give opportunities to develop initial clinical experience for aspiring clinical psychologists who would otherwise be excluded from entering the profession through unpaid work experience.

ASPIRE provides paid Assistant Psychologist roles in our clinical services tailored to allow psychology graduates to gain experience in their first paid role in health care.  The aim is that this role provides enough experience for someone to go on to be successful in gaining a substantive Assistant Psychologist post.

As part of CNWL’s commitment to address social inequalities in health, we are particularly seeking to employ psychology graduates with the drive to make a significant contribution to this priority.  This includes candidates from the many diverse social and cultural communities the Trust serves which are currently under represented in our psychology staff groups.  Candidates who can bring this valuable experience, including the ability to provide care in any of the languages of local communities, will be supported to develop their careers and flourish as valued members of our services.

You can read below about the programme in more detail, including what you are likely to expect in this role if it were to go ahead (this is decided annually).

This page will be regularly updated as new details become available.  As many psychology graduates will be interested in these scholarships we are not able to respond to individual queries at this stage and you are asked not to contact individual staff in the Trust for more information.

This MUST be in the format specified.  All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria.  Any applications that are not in the specified format or do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered for short listing.

For 2025, the next round of recruitment for the posts will commence around mid – end of September. When applications are open we will announce this on this web page.
