Bertha Matunge (pictured, below) started work at CNWL in February and is responsible for nursing practice in our Hillingdon services (mental health, community services and children), mental health rehab and Harrow Children’s services; the ‘inner London’ services of Goodall Division are looked over by the other Assistant Director of Nursing, William Sakala.

Bertha, joins from Surrey Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and before that, worked at South West London and St Georges.

She is an RMN by background, qualifying in Birmingham in 2006.

She was a  secondary school teacher in Zimbabwe and then a primary school teacher in the UK before moving into nursing.

She lives in Surrey and has a son, 19, who is reading Journalism at Leeds University.

Particularly frustrated just now as she really loves traveling but also loves cooking and has a very eclectic taste in music, with dancing her number one thing to do for her mental wellbeing!

Ask about her inspirations she comes straight back with, “my mum and dad – really hard workers and they set me on the right road – definitely mum and dad!”

She is supporting on the Trust’s celebration of Nurses on Wednesday 12 May, International  Nurses Day, because ,“nurses are amazing!”
