Yogita Dawda, Borough Lead Pharmacist in Jameson (Harrow and Brent), said her son Shiv and her daughter Siya were doing a 100k bike ride (at home) to raise £5k for the NHS.
They've already raised £2,653!
On their fundraising page, it says :
"Weʼre raising £5,000 to help our mum and other NHS Heroes: Please donate £1 per person (or more) to help get the PPE that the NHS need to protect us and themselves.”
Shiv and Siya said they were inspired to raise money for the NHS by their mum, and after hearing stories of people affected by the virus.
“School was out and there was no way our mum and dad were going to let us watch Netflix and play on X-Box all day. We saw mum working late and heard stories of how hard all the staff were working and the pressure everyone was under. We heard about the sad staff who lost their lives at Brent and Hillingdon.
“Then our grandfather also became very unwell over the weekend with suspected Covid. We couldn’t go inside his room to see him but cheered him up by waving at him outside the window of his care home. That’s when we knew we needed to do something to help. We came up with the idea on Saturday evening and so far have raised over £2,600. We are overwhelmed with the support – thank you. But, we would like to reach £5,000 and would really appreciate it if you could donate and share our JustGiving page so we can continue to raise money. You can follow our progress on Twitter @nhs_help.”
Well done to Shiv and Siya - thank you very much.
