To mark Armed Forces Week, CNWL is proud to announce we have received the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award 2025. This recognises our commitment to the care and wellbeing of the Armed Forces community.

This also acknowledges the Trust's journey since signing the Armed Forces Covenant in 2023 and receiving veteran aware accreditation in 2024, as well as the changes implemented to support our staff who are members of this community.

What is the Employer Recognition Scheme?

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encourages employers to show their support for the Armed Forces and to inspire others to do the same. Awards are given at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, based on an organisation’s level of support.

As part of our efforts to achieve the Silver Award, CNWL has strengthened our Special Leave Policy where Reservists and cadet forces are now entitled to special leave to attend annual training camps or cadet training.

We’ve also offering access to Mental Health First Aid training and Recovery College courses to cadet units, and CNWL encourages staff to declare their Armed Forces affiliation during recruitment and employment.

The Silver Award will be celebrated nationally at a special event on 18 September 2025, showcasing best practices from across the country.
