CNWL is proud to announce the official opening of its new Safety Training Centre,

Located in Beaufort House, Uxbridge it's designed to enhance staff skills in managing clinical and psychiatric emergencies and promoting safer care environments.

The centre was officially opened today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking a major milestone in CNWL’s commitment to staff development and patient safety.

Staff were invited to explore a variety of interactive training stations, including de-escalation chairs, mats, beanbag safety pods, and a fully equipped simulation room. These facilities allow staff to practise real-life scenarios in a safe, controlled environment.

Amanda Pithouse, Chief Nurse, highlighted the uniqueness of the centre, noted:

“It’s fantastic to see all the great work our staff are doing. The simulation room is a unique facility where staff can train and practice managing both medical and psychiatric emergencies. This hands-on approach complements mandatory and statutory training, ensuring our teams are confident and prepared.”

Jack Pooler, Assistant Director of Safety shared the journey of establishing the centre, emphasised the importance of providing staff with the right tools, space, and resources to take back to their services. “This centre represents a huge step forward in supporting our teams and enhancing the safety of both staff and patients,” he said.

Staff feedback has already been overwhelmingly positive, praising the centre as a safe and supportive environment where they can build skills, learn from realistic scenarios, and share knowledge across services.
