The team, which is led by Doug Stewart, Chief Digital and Information Officer at CNWL, have been nominated for HSJ’s Digital Team of the Year award for their huge impact to CNWL’s digital infrastructure and how they’ve transformed organisational culture.
The national awards, run by the Health Service Journal, recognise NHS teams and individuals who are going the extra mile to improve patient safety and care quality.
The nomination was put forward in secret, and the shortlist proves they’ve been integral in improving staff experience and patient care by being people-centred in every interaction across the Trust, and ensuring inclusion from every angle.
Their ethos is that technology must serve people, not constrain them and they have been revolutionary in designing a new CNWL digital culture together with staff to build trust and sustainable change.
Damian Larkin, Associate Director for Digital Transformation says:
"It was a really lovely surprise to hear that our team has been nominated for HSJ Digital team of the year, especially as it came from outside the team and was completely unexpected. I’m genuinely grateful and humbled.
The past year has brought a lot of change as we’ve worked to be more data-driven, proactive and collaborative with services, and this nomination has given us a rare moment to pause and see how far we’ve come. They team work so hard, and are a pleasure to work with, so I’m especially pleased and proud that they get this moment to shine, as they really deserve it."
Becky Bryant, Senior Electronic Patient Record Architect & Digital Health Discovery Lead says:
“We’re really excited to be shortlisted for the HSJ Digital Team of the Year Award. It’s a huge shout‑out to everyone’s hard work, creativity, and teamwork. We couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve done together, and this recognises our commitment to innovation, collaboration, and improving patient care through digital excellence”
