Following last year’s success, Community Services Month returns this November — and there’s just one thing for you to do: take part!

With events happening in-person and online, there’s something for everyone — staff, stakeholders, and residents - all are welcome.

It’s a chance to connect, learn, and celebrate the vital role community services play in local healthcare.

The NHS is at the heart of our communities. This month is about showing that proudly — opening our doors, sharing what we do, and welcoming people in.

A message from our Chief Medical Officer, Dr Con Kelly, on why Community Services Month matters:

Community Services Month: Reflect. Celebrate. Connect.

"Last year, we launched Community Services Month to spotlight the incredible work happening across our services. It’s back — bigger, broader, and more energised. This time, we’re celebrating both physical and mental health teams, together as they should be.

The NHS is evolving. Care is moving closer to home — more personal, more responsive, more rooted in community. What once required a hospital stay can now happen safely in living rooms, thanks to the right tech, skills, and relationships.

Hospitals of course remain vital. But we’re shifting towards prevention, early support, and recovery at home — better for patients, better for the system. Most of us would choose care at home, when safe. It’s human, familiar, and grounded in trust.

Our community teams are extraordinary — from OTs adapting homes to nursing teams delivering IVs at home. Yet much of this work flies under the radar. That’s why this month-long campaign matters. It’s a chance to raise awareness, yes — but also to connect, to learn, and to celebrate.

CNWL is proud to be at the forefront of community innovation. We’ve been asked to lead the government’s new neighbourhood health programme in Hillingdon. We’ve embedded physical health roles into mental health teams — a real step forward in integrated care. And our Camden neighbourhoods team helped shape the Health Secretary’s vision for the future of the NHS.

But this isn’t just about recognition — it’s about action. Got an idea? Join our Quality Improvement event. Let’s make it happen.

Across the Trust, we’re hosting open days, meeting residents, and making community care visible. And to our inpatient colleagues: this month is yours too. Transitions from hospital to home are a shared mission and you are a crucial part of the journey.

Let’s use this moment to connect, collaborate, and champion the care we deliver — every day, everywhere."
