Today is the beginning of Dietitians Week, a campaign run by the British Dietetic Association (BDA). Taking place until Friday 11 June, it is a chance to celebrate the remarkable work of dietitians, dietetic support workers, dietetic assistants and RD2B.

Many people may not realise the important role dietitians played and will continue to play in response to Covid-19, supporting people to recover and rehabilitate. The increased isolation and worry caused by the pandemic has also affected people’s mental health, and for conditions such as eating disorders, support from specialist mental health dietitians is vital.

The BDA has highlighted a number of different themes that will be celebrated during the week:

  • The diversity of the dietetic profession
  • A focus on dietetic careers
  • Celebrating the important contributions of all parts of the dietetic workforce
  • Promoting information on dietetic and nutrition topics

CNWL’s Dietitians have collated a number of resources and stories that we will be sharing throughout the week. Look out across our website and Twitter page for links to podcasts and articles as well as stories showcasing the personal experiences of CNWL’s dietitians.

CNWL’s Head Dietitian, Diljit Sidhu says:

“As Head of Profession for Dietetics in CNWL I have been given the opportunity to connect to the wide range of dietitians employed within our Trust. I have started to see and discuss the fantastic work individuals and teams have done and acknowledged the challenges they face.

“I have also begun supporting the profession in achieving recognition for their contribution to the Trusts priorities. Building and strengthening the role dietitians play as part of AHPs will be one of my personal goals; growing locally and becoming a site for excellence for student training and securing our commitment to a dietetic workforce for the future.”
