Dr Alex B Thomson is the Trust’s new Clinical Lead for Liaison Psychiatry and Urgent and Emergency Care.
The role will involve leading work to improve mental health care for patients receiving medical care in acute hospitals. Alex will also be supporting urgent and emergency mental health services, and supporting CNWL’s partnerships with our partners involved in urgent and emergency mental health response, such as the ambulance service and police.
Alex said, “I’m delighted to take on the challenge of supporting CNWL’s liaison psychiatry services, working with our acute trust and ambulance partners, and collaborating with our urgent and emergency mental health services. When any of us are unwell enough to need care in an acute hospital or emergency department it’s vital that we can also access timely mental health care when needed alongside medical care.”
