We're sad to announce the sudden death of Janice Niles, a long serving staff member who worked in older peoples mental health services, on Kershaw ward at St Charles.
We do not yet know the cause of death.
Our thoughts are with her family and colleagues for the loss of this well loved and dedicated member of staff.
Sean Mooney, Matron for Redwood & Kershaw Wards, said:
"Staff on Kershaw ward have been greatly saddened by the sudden loss of our long standing Nurse Colleague Janice Niles. Janice has worked across both older adult wards at St Charles Hospital over many years as well as working in other areas in the trust such as 3 Beatrice Place. She was very committed to her role as Nurse and chose to carry on working past retirement. She will be greatly missed by her family and by her colleagues in Kershaw Ward and her former colleagues elsewhere in the Trust.“
John Moffatt, said:
“Janice joined the team on Kershaw in March 2014 following a long successful career in nursing, Janice was a dedicated nurse who's knowledge and skills were of benefit to us all, and she soon became a much loved member of the team who was always willing to pass her knowledge and skills to others.
Janice often mentored students and they enjoyed her friendly and professional approach towards patients and her colleagues, and they would always leave the ward benefiting from having been guided by such an experienced member of the team.
She will always be remembered by the whole team at St Charles, she always had a smile for everyone, and during her breaks she would often talk about her love of shopping and fashion and her family, and you could always find her singing as she went about her work, just one happy lovely lady who cared so much about others; she will be sadly missed by everyone and it will take time for us all to get over our grief of losing a colleague and friend who we have all taken to our hearts over all the years we have known her, our love and thoughts are with her family and friends".
