As national restrictions ease this week, One Community Radio will be celebrating the new opportunities to be together with our friends and family safely.

One Community Radio was created to keep our community together when we had to be apart, but even when national restrictions ease we’ll still be here to keep everyone connected.

On the show we’ll be discussing all things green as One Community’s gardening projects re-start. This year patients will plant new food plants and pollinators to increase biodiversity in the garden at Shannon Ward and Nile Ward. Not only is this beneficial to our environment but nurturing life through supporting bees and creating food is therapeutic as it adds an extra sense of fulfilment that patients enjoy.

Jermaine McKenzie from the BAME Substance Misuse Service will talk about how the service supports patients with Substance Misuse in The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster. They provide 12 weeks intensive support for those who need guidance, emotional support and encourage patients to engage with other services, especially within the community. In addition to this, they support patients to reconnect with their own identity.

Hannah Buckland from One You will join us to speak about how One You provides NHS weight loss support through diet plans, and weight loss workout plans to help people manage their health.

Christina Santana Smith, Jameson Business, Strategy & Transformation Manager, will also join us to give an update on the progress of the Trust’s EDI project. The project conducted workshops in March that listened to the lived experiences of Black/African/Caribbean patients and carers and the recommendations they had for mental healthcare.

Join us on Friday 21 May at 1pm to celebrate the new opportunities to be together with loved ones but also the enduring moments the radio will continue to allow us to have as a community.
