Lord Bethell, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Social Care , visited the Trust headquarters this morning (8 July)to find out more about CNWL's apprenticeship opportunities for those wanting to begin a career in nursing or psychology.
The Trust offers a number of apprenticeships in London and Milton Keynes including a registered nursing degree apprenticeship and a cadets scheme.
CNWL is hosting eight cadets in its first cohort and it's hoped after their placements the Cadets will either obtain employment at CNWL or go on to university and return to CNWL once they are fully qualified.
60 people so far have either started, are about to start or have completed the Trust's registered nursing degree apprenticeship. Of the 60, ten people completed the course recently with extremely good results and almost all of them have now decided to continue their career at CNWL.
The Trust has also expanded it's apprenticeship work to include a new Clinical Associate Psychology Apprenticeship; for six people initially but it is hoped to increase access to this placement for many more individuals looking to start a career in psychology
Without such schemes many people would not be able to get into nursing.
