Maria_OBrien.JPGToday it has been announced that Maria O’Brien, CNWL’s Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Executive has been appointed the Chief Executive of West London NHS Trust.

Maria began her career as a nurse and has worked across a range of London Trusts progressing into clinical leadership and general management roles, taking up her first Director role in 2004. Since then, she has held increasingly senior positions in North West London, while remaining passionately committed to nursing, becoming a Queen’s Nurse in November 2021.

Claire Murdoch, Chief Executive of CNWL said of the appointment:

“I’m sure you will all join me in congratulating Maria. From a personal perspective, I am sad to see Maria leave CNWL but am equally happy for her great achievement in getting a top job and feel reassured that she isn’t moving very far. CNWL and West London have a long history of working closely and collaboratively on lots of projects and Maria’s appointment can only help to further that close relationship and ultimately help improve the care we deliver to local people and their communities in North West London”.

Tom Kibasi Chair of CNWL and West London NHS Trust said:

“I am delighted to appoint Maria as Chief Executive. Maria is an accomplished executive director and NHS leader, and brings a wealth of experience to West London.

“We look forward to warmly welcoming Maria to the organisation in the coming months.”

Congratulations Maria! We wish her every success. Details of her replacement will be announced soon.
