CNWL’s new Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service is now open at St Charles Hospital in North Kensington. The service had its grand opening on Monday 28 November with our Chief Executive, Claire Murdoch in attendance.

Claire said, “It was a privilege to meet with brilliant colleagues from the new Mental Health Assessment Centre at St Charles who  have a sheer determination to give patients an infinitely better experience when in a mental health crisis.”

MHCAS offers emergency mental health assessments and onward care planning for anyone over 18 years old that would otherwise go to an emergency department for mental health reasons.

The opening of this service will relieve the pressures faced by Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments in London and provide a therapeutic space for people going through a mental health crisis with access to specialised psychological and psychiatric care.

The MHSCAS will be operating at a lower capacity until 5 December.
